Couple weeks ago, World of Warcraft: Legion's final raid was opened for those playing on normal and Heroic difficulty. And the real fight began when Antorus, the Burning Throne became available. With the final raid's appearance, many progression guilds seeking the "world first" clear are jetting through at an unprecedented pace.
Antorus launched in North America on Tuesday and in Europe on Wednesday. Two guilds, Limit & Exorsus, are 8/11, while Method has pulled ahead to 10/11. Many others sit at 6/11. The final boss is always the most difficult, of course, but it's disappointing to see such a large raid cleared so quickly.
With the raid only available on the US realms, it's expected that US-based guilds will get the first few bosses down, and several are already. Expected to win the race is Method themselves, as the most dedicated guild in the world and the ones who won the last progress race for the Tomb of Sargeras raid. While there are other guilds who put serious time and effort into the game, Method are in a tier of their own at the end of the expansion.
Normally when a raid is released, guilds spend a lot of time wiping as they progress allowing Blizzard to spend two to five weeks tuning the raid to be more competitive. This can include nerfing or buffing various mechanics, trash mobs and bosses and can take place during and after the world first race.
In another illustration of how weak Antorus is, Limit (NA) achieved a world first kill of Coven of Shivarra without a single melee DPS class represented.
