Blizzard is once again making an appearance at San Diego Comic Con, and this year, they have some fantastic goodies going with them. The Blizzard SDCC exclusive line includes a completely adorable Nether Faerie Dragon plush toy, a Whimsyshire Treasure Goblin plush toy, a Funko Pop! Vinyl Primal Kerrigan, and a Cute But Deadly Cloaking Zeratul. There will also be a number items that debut at SDCC, but will become available on the Blizzard gear store after the convention--including a minature zergling plush keychain, and a plush Hearthstone (yes, a Hearthstone) with light and sound effects. The Warlords of Draenor beta test is officially underway, and our friends at Wowhead are offering players an early opportunity to face the Iron Horde and help us test the expansion before it’s released later this year. Wowhead will be selecting from players who complete specific in-game achievements, which will change each week, and increasing the number of keys they’re giving out as time goes on. If this all sounds good to you, head over to Wowhead now to view your Character Profile and ensure it’s verified. The current bag system has been improved to now offer sorting as well as auto-filtering for specific loot types. There are quite a few addons which offer this functionality, and unfortunately Blizzard's options are a tad limited in comparison. It's definitely a step in the right direction for those players who prefer using separate bags rather than one of the many all-in-one bag addons. Items filtering can be assigned to each different bag, and players can choose between Equipment, Consumables, Trade Goods and Junk. Selecting a filter for a bag will automatically assign items of this type to a specific bag. A bag "Clean Up" button has also been added to the primary backpack, which will automatically sort all items (except for bags for which the "Ignore this bag" option has been selected).

A new visibility mode has been added to the Interface > Display menu, which now displays a green glow on characters which are being moused over or targeted. While a minor feature, this should go far with visibility and will definitely aid with questing! Friendly targets glow green, aggressive targets glow red, neutral targets Glow yellow, and characters that are not flagged for PVP glow blue. In addition to the new targeting glow, all quest items and nodes will now feature a yellow glow, which displays regardless of whether or not the node has been moused over. This will be a most substantial upgrade for gathering professions, as they don't benefit from the sparkles the way quest items do. On live servers you can't transmog polearms over swords, axes or maces (and vice versa), but on the Alpha it's a totally different story, as you can see in the header image below. No idea if this is an intended change or not but it's certainly a welcome one for those of us who happen to carry a Hellreaver in our bags.

Here he is, in all his glory, the brand new draenei male as he appears on the alpha servers. As Chris Robinson said earlier today, various new models are being released on the alpha -- they're not done, very much works in progress, and this model is no exception but it's a huge improvement overall. Very fluid, nicely rendered, and an overall solid piece of work.

Alliance fans rejoice! Blizzard has just revealed the revamped human male model, coming in Warlords of Draenor. Like previous reveals, the new model's increased fidelity is immediately obvious. The work done on his facial structure will be appreciated, too -- though he does bear a striking resemblance to Tarzan.

PvP has long has the Deserter debuff, which means that there's a cost to simply dropping a game rather than taking the loss. However, that system is being changed in terms of how it functions in rated PvP like Arenas and rated battlegrounds. For starters, it's being applied to said rated PvP. In addition to now getting the Deserter debuff for rated PvP, how it works for random BG's will also be changing. The community manager said that they are applying a couple hotfixes that will make a few changes to how the Deserter debuff functions, and also apply it to Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds. June 21 is the first official day of summer, and that means the Qiraji Guardling has begun spawning on all servers. Like its counterpart the Snowy Owl, this pet is only seasonally available, which means you've got a limited time to capture one for yourself. The Guardling spawns in southern Silithus, along the walls of Ahn'Qiraj -- both inside the entrance area, and just outside near the Scarab Wall. The pet spawns anywhere from poor to rare quality, and is always accompanied by two other critters, so make sure you've got a decent team put together before you set out.

The official site displayed the Shadowmoon Valley preview, and we have to admit that many players are so excited about it. Hidden under a shroud of perpetual night broken only by bright starlight, the lush idyllic forests of Shadowmoon Valley are home to a majestic draenei tomb and sanctuary: Karabor. While many of Shadowmoon’s denizens study prophecy among Karabor’s ancient stone circles, plotters with darker ambitions lurk in the valley’s vast underground cave network, gazing greedily at the sacred temple.

The gathered masses on the Timeless Isle were restless. All the rares had been killed, the chests had been looted, and the weird pirate ship had been summoned and destroyed. All that remained was Huolon. But he wouldn't show himself. After an hour of waiting, the mob decided that they needed a sacrifice. Straws were drawn. One tauren came up short. And then the other mammoths devoured the victim. Simple, but bleak. I prefer my method of Huolon-finding, which involves running around the Isle skinning other people's kills until someone writes "Huolon's up" in general chat. At the official site, the latest Warlords of Draenor alpha patch notes have been released, and they come with some pretty hefty changes to monks--Mistweavers in particular. Blizzard has been experimenting with the monk class, and that comes as no real surprise. They were the new kids of Mists of Pandaria, so it's expected that they'll be getting relatively large changes in the expansion immediately following their introduction. Death Knights went through the same thing in Cataclysm, so this seems to be just part of the new class cycle. Keep that in mind as we go over the changes; this is still alpha, after all, and if there were any time for Blizzard to play around and see what happens, it's now.

Common knowledge suggests that gamers who are more mature -- and therefore older -- will be more grammatically correct, typing in complete sentences with proper punctuation rather than leaning on acronyms and slang. However, a recent study on gaming chat by a Colorado State University researcher suggests our common knowledge might just be wrong -- because while phrasing can certainly give us hints at a typist's age, Millennials are better at grammar than we think.

A short list of hotfixes for patch 5.4.8 have been released and posted to the official blog. Although a small round, these hotfixes include the adjustment to the Bloody Coin drop rate mentioned yesterday -- the drop rate is now 100% upon landing a killing blow on a level 90 character. This is an additional adjustment to hotfixes last week that addressed the Censer of Eternal Agony, Bloody Coins, and Fire-Watcher's Oath. In addition, players may now use the Nightmarish Hitching Post in both Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds. You can read the detailed information as below.

Bloody coins, which you get through the Timeless Isle's Fire-Watcher's Oath, have recently undergone some major changes. The drop rate was nerfed when the Censer of Eternal Agony was nerfed, and collecting bloody coins became a head-desking activity. Fortunately, that's changed now.

Blizzard has announced another temporary buff to players. This time we all will get a 100% Black Prince reputation bonus, which will run from Tuesday June 17 at 9am PDT through Monday June 30 at 9am PDT.
